The Trillium Benefit pays on the 10th of each month, moved earlier when the 10th hits a weekend. It's three Ontario credits in one deposit, usually labelled Canada PRO by your bank. Here's the verified 2026 schedule.
The next Ontario Trillium Benefit payment arrives on Friday, July 10, 2026. It's the first payment of the new benefit year, calculated from your 2025 tax return, and it lands under the Canada PRO label at most banks.
The CRA pays OTB 12 times in 2026 on the 10th of each month, with 3 exceptions where the 10th fell on a weekend: January 9, May 8 and October 9 all moved to the business day before.

OTB bundles three separate Ontario credits into one monthly deposit, and each has its own maximum for the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year.
Up to $378 per adult and per child under 19, fully automatic once you file. It works exactly like the federal Groceries and Essentials Benefit, no form needed.
Up to $1,307 for ages 18 to 64 and $1,488 for seniors 65 and over, based on the rent or property tax you reported. It needs Form ON-BEN filed with your return every year.
Up to $189 for singles and $290 for families living in Northern Ontario districts like Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timiskaming. It also requires the yearly ON-BEN.
That structure explains most Trillium surprises. A payment that shrank this July usually means the ON-BEN didn't get filed with the 2025 return, which silently drops the energy and property portions while the automatic sales tax credit keeps flowing.
The CRA doesn't split small entitlements. An annual OTB of $500 or less pays out as a single lump sum with the July 2026 payment instead of 12 monthly deposits. That's not an error or a bonus; it's the full year arriving at once, and no further Trillium deposits follow until July 2027.
Entitlements above $500 pay monthly by default, with one alternative: you can elect on your return to receive the entire year as a single payment in June 2027. People use it as a forced savings option, though most Ontarians leave the monthly default alone.
Either way the money is income-tested against your 2025 return, which is why July's payment resets across our whole Canada benefit payment calendar: the CCB, the Groceries Benefit and the OTB all recalculate from the same return in the same month.
Banks label CRA-delivered provincial programs Canada PRO, and in Ontario that's the Trillium Benefit almost every time. The deposit won't say Trillium, OSTC or ON-BEN anywhere. Match the 10th-of-month timing and you've confirmed it.
Decode the Canada PRO labelThe July 10 start date depends on your 2025 return being assessed by June 19, 2026. Returns assessed after that date don't lose anything; the CRA issues the first payment within 4 to 8 weeks of assessment and folds in every missed month from July onward.
The CRA asks you to wait 10 business days after a payment date before contacting them. A missing or shrunken payment usually traces to one of three causes: an unfiled 2025 return, a forgotten ON-BEN form, or the $500 lump sum rule above, which isn't a missing payment at all.
Dates and amounts come from the Ontario Trillium Benefit page on ontario.ca and the CRA benefit payment calendar. Last verified July 8, 2026, re-checked quarterly, corrected within 24 hours when anything changes.
