The next Canadian benefit payment is the Ontario Trillium Benefit on July 10, 2026. The Canada Child Benefit follows on July 20, and CPP, OAS and GIS all arrive together on July 29, 2026. Direct deposits usually post by early morning on the payment date.

Federal programs

Federal benefit payment dates

Five federal programs cover most benefit deposits in Canada. Service Canada pays CPP and OAS on one shared monthly calendar. The CRA pays the GST/HST credit, the Canada Child Benefit and related credits on separate schedules.

Deposit decoder

What do the deposit codes on your bank statement mean?

Canadian banks rarely name the benefit that paid you. Your statement shows a short government label, and the same label can cover several different programs. Our decoder matches the label, the amount and the date to the exact benefit behind the deposit.

Provincial programs

Provincial benefit payment dates

Provinces run their own assistance and disability programs on separate calendars. Several provincial credits are delivered by the CRA inside federal deposits, which is why a single direct deposit can contain both federal and provincial money under one label. These are the provincial schedules Canadians search for most often.

Deposit timing

What time do benefit deposits arrive in Canada?

Direct deposits from the CRA and Service Canada usually post overnight, so the money is visible in most Canadian bank accounts by early morning on the payment date. Some credit unions and online banks release government deposits one business day early, which is why a neighbour can be paid before you without anything being wrong. Mailed cheques are slower, and both agencies ask recipients to wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before reporting a missing payment.

Two scheduling rules explain almost every date on this site. First, when a payment date lands on a weekend or statutory holiday, the deposit moves to the business day before, never after. Second, December payments are issued early, ahead of the bank holiday closures. In 2026 the December CPP and OAS payment arrives on December 22, which creates the longest gap of the year: roughly five weeks until the late January 2027 deposit.

If a payment has not arrived after the waiting period, the most common cause is stale banking information after switching accounts. Confirm your direct deposit details in My Service Canada Account or CRA My Account before calling, and check that your latest tax return was filed, since an unfiled return can pause CRA-administered credits like the GST/HST credit and the CCB entirely.

Trust and method

How we verify these dates

Every date on this site is checked against the official Government of Canada payment calendars before publication and re-verified quarterly. We link the canada.ca source for every program, correct within 24 hours when a calendar changes, and never publish eligibility promises or amount guarantees. Canada Benefit Dates is not affiliated with the Government of Canada. Read the full process on our how we verify payment dates page.

Official sources only

Dates come from CRA and Service Canada calendars, never from other websites or recycled data.

Quarterly re-checks

Every schedule is re-verified against canada.ca at least four times per year, more often when programs change.

Dated corrections

Each page shows when it was last verified and logs any correction made, so you can see how current the data is.

This matters because benefit calendars do change. The consumer carbon rebate ended mid-cycle, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit appeared with a one-time top-up in 2026, and the Canada Disability Benefit began its first payments only recently. A schedule copied once and never re-checked goes wrong within a year, which is exactly what happens on many of the sites currently ranking for these searches. Verified dates, not recycled data, are what separate a useful reference from noise.

Quick answers

Canada benefit payment questions, answered

The questions Canadians ask most about benefit deposits, answered in plain language from the verified 2026 calendars.

When is the next benefit payment in Canada?
The Ontario Trillium Benefit pays next on July 10, 2026. The Canada Child Benefit follows on July 20, and CPP, OAS and GIS all arrive on July 29, 2026. The next quarterly GST/HST credit lands on October 5, 2026.
Do CPP and OAS come on the same day?
Yes. Service Canada pays CPP and OAS on the same day each month, the third-to-last business day. If you receive both pensions, they usually land together in one morning, and GIS arrives inside the same OAS deposit.
What time do government direct deposits go in?
Most CRA and Service Canada deposits post overnight, so the money shows in Canadian bank accounts by early morning on the payment date. Some credit unions and online banks release government deposits one business day early, so timing isn't identical at every bank.
Why did I get a Canada FPT deposit?
Canada FPT is the bank label for federal, provincial and territorial credits. It usually means the GST/HST credit or the Canada Child Benefit paid you. Match the amount and the date against each program's schedule to confirm which one it was.
What happens when a payment date falls on a weekend or holiday?
The deposit moves to the business day before, never after. That's also why December payments arrive early every year, ahead of the holiday bank closures, which creates the longest gap of the year before the late January payment.
Is the Canada Carbon Rebate still being paid in 2026?
No. The consumer carbon rebate ended after the federal fuel charge was removed, and the final payment went out in April 2025. Any site listing 2026 carbon rebate dates isn't publishing current information.
